With the establishment of the Young Tornado Warriors Football Club and Greater Purpose Outreach charity organisation, the goal of the organisation’s founder; Friedl Gertse, was to provide the youth with more options other than what Manenberg and the surrounds offered them. Young children are easy prey for gangs and the crimes that have become prevalent in the community over the last few years. Sports and initiatives aimed at community-building have proven to be quite successful in getting our kids off the street and mobilizing the community in a way that leads to a positive impact in this crime-infested district of Cape Town.
